In 2000, Becky was approached by a web designer who invited her to join a new project for a pro-life organization in Oregon. He shared his vision for a website that would reach young women facing unexpected pregnancies with compassion and encouragement—the mission to “love them both.” Becky immediately connected with the idea and shared that she, too, had once faced an unplanned pregnancy. Moved by her story, the designer asked if she would share it on the website to help other young women find hope and courage in their own moments of crisis.
What began as a simple photo session became a powerful journey of faith, healing, and purpose. Being part of the StandUpGirl team has brought Becky immense joy and renewal. She reflects that while people often say “time heals,” she has learned that true healing comes only through Christ, who redeems even the most painful chapters of our lives and uses them to bring hope to others.
Dawn Marie resides in rural western Oregon with her husband Mark, of 16 years, their two children, chickens, puppy and any other creature her kids seem to bring home. She enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with her family, shabby chic crafting, snowboarding/skiing, and spontaneous travel adventures that involve “jumping in the truck and driving until we find a nice place to stop.” At home, she’s often found with a cup of tea, a Christian adventure book or movie by the fireplace.
